Fallforebygging - "Hvilke sykepleiefaglige tilnærmingsmetoder kan bidra til å forebygge fall hos eldre hjemmeboende?"

Abstract

Bakgrunn: Fall er den hyppigste ulykkestypen hos eldre. Fallskader var i 2013 rangert som nummer seks på listen over sykdommer og skader som ga størst helsetap i Norge (Olsen et al., 2017). Fall kan føre til at omsorgsbehovet øker og det kan gi en stor samfunnsøkonomisk belastning. Fokuset på fall og fallforebygging bør økes hos ansatte i hjemmesykepleien (Solbakken og Bondas, 2015). Hensikt: Hensikten med oppgaven er å belyse hvilke grep sykepleieren kan ta for å forebygge fall hos eldre hjemmeboende. Metode: Oppgaven er en litteraturstudie som benytter vitenskapelige forskningsartikler og faglitteratur. Ulike databaser ble benyttet for å finne relevant forskning. Artiklene ble analysert, kritisk vurdert og sammenlignet opp mot hverandre og relevant teori, for best mulig å besvare problemstillingen. Resultat: Basert på resultatene i de ulike studiene som er brukt i oppgaven kom vi frem til fem ulike hovedtema; Tilnærming og kommunikasjon. Sykepleie og brukermedvirkning. Behov for kompetanseheving hos sykepleiere?. Tverrfaglig- og pårørendesamarbeid, og teknologiske løsninger. Konklusjon: Sykepleierens undervisende og veiledende funksjon kan bidra til å forebygge fall hos hjemmeboende eldre. Fokus på relasjonsbygging mellom brukeren og sykepleieren bør vektlegges. Ved å bli kjent med brukerens ønsker og behov, kan sykepleieren lettere gi god tilpasset informasjon, undervisning og veiledning. Føler brukeren tilhørighet til informasjonen, kan brukeren inspireres til å ta virkningsfulle valg, både bevisste og ubevisste. Metoder sykepleieren kan anvende i fallforebyggende arbeid er, å sørge for at brukeren aktivt medvirker, at sykepleieren innehar gode kommunikative ferdigheter og øker kompetansen. Tverrfaglig samarbeid og teknologi er også aktuelle metoder.

Background: Accidental falls are the most common type of accidents among the elderly. Injuries due to falling, were ranked as number six on the list of diseases and injuries that gave the most health loss in Norway in 2013 (Olsen et al., 2017). Accidental falls can lead to increased need for care assistance and can result in a large socio-economic burden. The focus on fall and fall prevention should be increased among nurses in home care services (Solbakken and Bondas, 2015). Purpose: The purpose of this study is to find good methods that nurses can use to prevent falls among elderly living at home. Method: The thesis is a literature review that uses scientific research articles and academic literature. Various databases were used to find relevant research articles. The articles were analyzed and critically evaluated. They were also compared with each other and theory, in order to best answer the question. Results: Based on the results of the various studies used in this thesis, we came up with five different main themes; Patient approach and communication. Nursing and patient involvement. Need for nursing skill enhancement?. Interdisciplinary- and dependents cooperation, and technology - the path to a good fall preventive measure? Conclusion: The nurse's teaching and guidance function can help prevent falls among elderly living at home. Focus on building a good relationship between the patient and the nurse, should be emphasized. Then the nurse can more easily provide customized- information, instruction and guidance. If the patient feels affiliation to the information, the patient can be inspired to make effective choices, both conscious and unconscious. Methods nurse's can use in fall- preventive work is, to ensure that the patient actively participates, that the nurse holds good communicative skills, and increases their competence. Interdisciplinary collaboration and technology are also relevant methods.
