Nasjonsbygging under Mustafa Kemal Atatürk

Abstract

Temaet for denne oppgaven er den kemalistiske nasjonsbyggingen i Tyrkia mellom årene 1920 og 1937. Mustafa Kemal hadde arvet restene av det osmanske imperiet etter dets deltakelse og tap under den første verdenskrig. Han skulle med utgangspunkt i en nasjon som etter hans eget synspunkt av flere grunner var utdatert og umoderne, starte en prosess med det endelige mål å bringe nasjonen inn i det siviliserte selskap. Det tyrkiske folkets image skulle rehabiliteres både utad og innad.

The theme for this assignement is the Kemalist nation-building process in the years 1920 to 1937. Mustafa Kemal inherited the remains of the Otooman Empire and it participation and loss during the first world war. Eith nation he basicly regarded as outdated, he would start a pocess of bringing it into the higher civlizational ranks. The Turkish population was to be renewed both internally and externally.
