Norwegians have been found to be very satisfied with their national healthcare system. In spite of this, the number of Norwegian citizens with private health insurance has increased severely the last 10-15 years. This association has not been fully researched in previous studies. Therefore, in this master’s thesis I use multiple logistic regressions analysis to study the relationship between satisfaction with the national healthcare system and private health insurance. My analysis use a dataset based on a survey carried out by SINTEF on behalf of the National Association for Hearth and Lung Disease. I examine whether Norwegian citizens with private health insurance are less satisfied with the national healthcare system than those without private health insurance. I also include several control variables to control for socioeconomic status and relations in my study. The empirical results indicate that there is an association between satisfaction with the national healthcare system and private health insurance. Norwegian citizens with private health insurance have a higher probability to be dissatisfied with the national healthcare system than those without private health insurance. This finding is the same for persons with individually paid private health insurance and persons with employer paid private health insurance.nb_NO
