Sykepleie til unge voksne i psykiatrisk institusjon: hvordan kan sykepleiere skape gode relasjoner til unge voksne i psykiatrisk institusjon?

Abstract

Bakgrunn: De fleste psykiske lidelser debuterer i ung voksen alder. En terapeutisk relasjon mellom pasient og sykepleier i helsetjenesten spiller en viktig rolle i behandlingsprosessen. Hensikt: Hensikten med dette litteraturstudiet er å søke kunnskap om hva som fremmer en god terapeutisk relasjon mellom sykepleier og unge voksne med psykiske diagnoser. Møtet skjer i en psykiatrisk institusjon og pasientene er i alderen 18 til 25 år. Metode: Dette er et litteraturstudie basert på tidligere forskning på fagområdet. Vi har benyttet de medisinske databasene CINAHL(EBSCO), PsychInfo, Idunn, ProQuest, ProQuest Health & Medicine og EBSCO holst Psychology and Behavioral Scienced Collection. Resultat: På bakgrunn av de inkluderte vitenskapelige artiklene i denne bacheloroppgaven, er det særlig fire sentrale faktorer som har betydning for å fremme god sykepleier-pasientrelasjon: • Sykepleiers kunnskap og holdninger, • Pasientens trygghet og tillit til sykepleieren , • Nærhet og avstand i relasjonen , • “Å se personen bak diagnosen”. Konklusjon: For å kunne skape en god relasjon til unge voksne i psykiatrisk institusjon, er det viktig at sykepleier er bevisst på egne holdninger og har evnen til å vise empati, skape tillit og trygghet. Samt å kunne se individet bak diagnosen. I tillegg er kunnskaper og ferdigheter til å utøve god sykepleie er sentralt.

Background: Most commonly we see signs of mental illness being displayed in early stages of adulthood, and so the therapeutic relationship between patients and nursing staff plays a key role in the treatment process. Purpose: The main objective in this study of literature is predicated on finding answers and solutions in regards to developing a therapeutic relationship between nursing staff and young adult patients struggling with mental illness. The meeting takes place in a psychiatric institution with patients aged 18 to 25. Method: This is a literature-study based on previous information in the field of research. We’ve used the following medical databases to conduct our analysis: CINAHL(EBSCO), PsychInfo, Idunn, ProQuest, ProQuest Health & Medicine og EBSCO holst Psychology and Behavioral Scienced Collection. Results: Based on information extracted from the scientific research papers included in this bachelor assignment, we’ve found four central factors of importance in regards to promoting good nurse-patient relations: · The nurse’s knowledge and demeanor, · The patient’s level of safety and trust, · Proximity and distance within the relationship, · The ability to witness the person behind the diagnosis Conclusion: To ensure good relations between staff and young adult patients within a psychiatric institution, it is of utmost importance that the nurse is aware of their own presence and demeanor. They need to be able to create an environment based on trust and safety, as well as having the ability to display empathy and to see the person behind the diagnosis. Knowledge to practice good nursing is necessary to achieving good care.
