Investigation of Inclusion Characteristics in LCAK Calcium Treated Steel: Inclusion characterization in 3-D using Electrolytic Extraction and SEM
Abstract
Low carbon steel samples taken during various stages of secondary refining were used in the present work for Electrolytic extraction (EE) to dissolve some metal and filter the solution to collect the inclusions.These film filters were analyzed by SEM for inclusion characteristics like particle size distribution, morphology and chemical composition. The change in inclusion properties was investigated in different samples. This information is vital in controlling the inclusion properties in the final steel product which will decide its mechanical properties during its usage.
