Abstract
Norwegian sociologist Rune Slagstad started a couple of political debates on the Norwegian left in 1979. Parts of the debate concerned Antonio Gramsci, and then mostly his relation to Lenin and “Leninism”. Was Gramsci a “Leninist” or did his thoughts present an alternative to Leninism. This article attempts to sum up and analyze the debate, and evaluate it in light of recent scholarship”.
