Fra fritt fall til trygge hender - Kommunikasjon med barn som er rammet av kreft.

Abstract

Bakgrunn: For å oppnå god kommunikasjon er det viktig med ulike kommunikasjonsteknikker, som er tilpasset barnets alder og utvikling. Dette er med på å fremme tillit og trygghet hos det kreftsyke barnet, som kan bedre barnets livskvalitet. Problemstilling: Hvordan kan sykepleieren ha god kommunikasjon med kreftsyke barn, og hvilken betydning kan det ha? Metode: Et litteraturstudie der vitenskapelige artikler er samlet ved strukturerte og ustrukturerte søk, ved bruk av relevante søkeord. Artiklene er kritisk vurdert i henhold til studiets problemstilling. Databasene som ble brukt er: CINAHL, Svemed+, PubMed og Ovid Nursing Database. Resultat: Resultater viser at ulike kommunikasjonsteknikker er nødvendig for å kommunisere med barn i ulik stadiet av utviklingen. Funn viser at informasjon er viktig og at barna ønsker mer deltagelse i sin livssituasjon. Konklusjon: Det viser seg at det er viktig med videre forskning på kommunikasjon med kreftsyke barn, og at det er mangel på forskning i forhold til barnets livskvalitet. Det vises at det er viktig å ta alder og utviklingsstadiet i betraktning i kommunikasjonen med barn. Barn i aldersgruppen 3-10 år har store variasjoner i forhold til barnets forståelse og kommunikasjonsmetoder.

Background: To achieve good communication it´s important with different communication techniques, which is adjusted to the children´s age and development. This helps to bring trust and safety to the child with cancer. Issue: How can the nurse have good communication whit children who have a cancer diagnosis, and the impact it can have on quality of life? Method: A literature study were scientific articles are gathered with structured and unstructured search, by using relevant search words. Articles are critically considered on behalf of the studies issue. Databases used is: CINAHL, Svemed+, PubMed and Ovid Nursing Database. Results: Results shows that different communication techniques is necessary to communicate with children at different stage of development. Findings show that the information is important and the children wants more participation in their life situation. Conclusion: This shows that it is important with further research on communication with children who have a cancer diagnosis, and lack of research in relation to child`s quality of life. It appears that it is important to take age and development stage into consideration in communicating with children. Children aged 3-10 years have large variation in relation to the child`s understanding and communication methods.
