Hvordan kan sykepleiere ved hjelp av pasientopplæring forebygge peritonitt hos pasienter i peritoneal dialyse?

Abstract

NORSK: Peritonitt er den alvorligste komplikasjonen til peritoneal dialysebehandling. Ved forebyggende infeksjonsarbeid rettet mot pasientgruppen kan pasientene skånes for store ubehag, sykehusinnleggelse, avhopp fra behandlingen og dødelig utfall. Hensikten med litteraturstudiet er å sette fokus på kunnskapene og ferdighetene en sykepleier bør formidle gjennom pasientopplæring til pasienten i peritoneal dialyse for at pasienten selv skal kunne utføre behandlingen forsvarlig og forebygge peritonitt. Litteratursøk er utført i tidsperioden fra desember til mars. Databasene jeg benyttet var Cinal, Ovid Nursing Database og Academic Search Elite. Søkeordene peritonitis, peritoneal dialysis, prevent*, hygiene, nurs*, training, home visits og patient education, ble benyttet. Pasienten må delta aktivt behandlingen og forebygge peritonitt på bakgrunn av kunnskap formidlet av sykepleieren, som har en viktig rolle med å undervise og støtte pasienten. Treningen bør vare frem til pasienten på en forsvarlig måte kan utføre alle prosedyrer tilknyttet peritoneal dialyse, og gjenkjenne kontaminasjon og infeksjon, samt iverksette de riktige tiltakene etterfølgende.

ENGLISH: Peritonitis is the most serious complication of peritoneal dialysis. Patients may be spared for major discomfort, hospitalization, to quit the treatment and death, if peritonitis is prevented. The purpose of the literature study is to focus on the knowledge and skills a nurse should convey through patient education to peritoneal dialysis patients for the patient to carry out proper treatment and prevention of peritonitis. Literature search is performed in the period from December to March. The database I used was Cinal, Ovid Nursing Database and Academic Search Elite. The keywords peritonitis, peritoneal dialysis, prevent*, hygiene, nurs*, training, home visits and patient education, was used. The patient must participate during the treatment and prevention of peritonitis in the light of the knowledge conveyed by the nurse, which has an important role to educate and support the patient. The training should continue until the patient in a proper way can perform all peritoneal dialysis related procedures and recognize contamination and infection, and initiate the following, appropriate action.
