Abstract

Denne bacheloroppgaven handler om hvordan kostymets farger og plassering i den visuelle strukturen i en film har mye å si for hvordan rollefigurene på skjermen blir tolket. Oppgaven har som mål å undersøke hvordan kostymet har noe å si for hvem vi synes er sympatiske og dermed hvordan dette endrer sympatistrukturen. Denne næranalysen tar for seg 4 scener av rollefiguren Elizabeth Swann sine kostymer i The Pirates of The Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (Verbinski 2003) ved å bruke Torben Grodal sitt perspektiv innen kognitiv filmteori på sympatistrukturen, i tillegg til Bruce Block og Patti Bellantoni sine perspektiv på visuell struktur og fargebetydning for tolkning av fortellinger.

This Bachelor thesis is about how the colors of the costume and its placement in the visual structure of a film have a lot to do with how the characters onscreen are interpreted. The thesis aims to investigate how the costume has something to do with who we find sympathetic and thus how this changes the sympathy structure. This close analysis looks at 4 scenes of the character Elizabeth Swann's costumes in The Pirates of The Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (Verbinski 2003) using Torben Grodal's perspective within cognitive film theory on the sympathy structure, in addition to Bruce Block and Patti Bellantoni's perspectives on visual structure an d the meaning of color for the interpretation of narratives.
