Abstract
Courses: This paper presents a course design which aims at stimulating student ownership of learning. It was developed for a semester-long, undergraduate course in political communication but it is equally suitable for courses at graduate level and on other topics. The course design will unfold its potential best in classes with up to 30 students. Objectives: After having completed this course, students will be able to (a) define intended learning outcomes, (b) present academic content comprehensively and understandably, (c) employ active learning strategies, (d) create a learning session over 90 minutes, (e) work collaboratively, (f) critically discuss research and current political issues and (g) critically reflect on their own learning processes.
