Suburban Transformation

Abstract

Vækerø-området i Oslo er utvalgt til å gjennomgå en urban tranformasjon og omdannelsen er tydelig påvirket av den nye T-banen til Fornebu (Fornebubanen). Dette prosjektet representerer en kombinasjon av urban tetthet og forstadslivets sjarm med fokus på samfunnsorientert byplanlegging. Oppgaven introduserer en ny typologi i Vækerø hvor det legges vekt på grøntareal samtidig som områdets naturlige forstadskarakter bevares. Planen omfatter omdanning av gårdsarealer til offentlige parker og transformasjon av bevarte boliger til felles fasiliteter. Man skaper dermed en harmonisk balanse mellom urban utvikling og bevaring av forstadens kvaliteter.

The Vækerø area in Oslo is selected to undergo an urban transformation, and this change is significantly influenced by the new Fornebu metro line (Fornebubanen). This project represents a blend of urban density and the charm of suburban character, with a focus on community-oriented urban planning. It introduces a new typology in Vækerø, emphasizing green spaces and preserving the area's character. The plan includes transforming historically important private gardens into public parks and converting selected existing volumes into facilities for the community. It thereby creates a harmonious balance between urban development and the preservation of suburban qualities.
