Abstract

Denne bacheloroppgaven utforsker hvordan de filmatiske virkemidlene i true crime-dokumentarer er anvendt for å engasjere publikum. Denne oppgaven undersøker teori om dokumentar og true crime-sjangeren i lys av utvikling og historie. Blandingen mellom fakta og fiksjon blir diskutert, og samtidig at det vil bli sett på viktigheten av begreper som spiller en stor rolle for å skape troverdighet og autentisitet i dokumentaren. Gjennom en nøye kvalitativ innholdsanalyse av dokumentarserien om Ted Bundy; «conversations with a killer: the Ted Bundy tapes», undersøker jeg de visuelle, auditive og narrative elementene i de filmatiske virkemidlene. Dette inkluderer hvordan mise-en-scene, kinematografi, lyd og klipping brukes for å bygge spenning og engasjement. Med denne oppgaven håper jeg at det skal gi en bedre forståelse av hvordan true crime-dokumentarer formidler historier og skaper en atmosfære som tiltrekker seere.

This thesis explores how filmmakers use cinematic techniques in true crime documentaries to engage the audience. This thesis explores documentary theory and the true crime genre's development and history. It discusses the mix of fact and fiction, while also highlighting the importance of concepts that enhance credibility and authenticity. Through a thorough qualitative content analysis of the documentary series on Ted Bundy; "Conversations with a Killer: The Ted Bundy Tapes," the visual, auditory, and narrative elements of cinematic techniques are examined. This includes how mise-en-scene, cinematography, sound, and editing are used to create tension and engagement. The aim of this thesis is to provide a better understanding of how true crime documentaries convey stories and create an atmosphere that attracts viewers.
