Agile smallsat operation tool-chain development: Hypso-1 hyperspectral earth observation experiences

Abstract

Satellite operations is important for a successful mission, but can be time consuming for inexperienced operators in new small satellite projects. We present a method for the continuous development of an earth observation satellite operations system based on agile principles and specific mission objectives. Results are presented using data from the HYPSO-1 satellite. Downloaded data amount and quality with regards to image cloud content is maximized using a single ground station while drastically reducing operator time investment.
