dc.description.abstractSocio-environmental connections make green schoolyards excellent places to implement climate-adaptive surface water solutions. The outdoor area of Voldsløkka ungdomsskole in Oslo affords such a possibility to design multi-functional spaces while strengthening the area's green-blue structure. The current school is built on an old industrial plot where one building has been preserved and a new one is being built. The aim of this thesis is to design the schoolyard as an integral part of the surrounding sport-grounds, park and nearby community, by integrating the design of social space, surface water management and landscape. The process will include gathering the relevant and necessary documentation, data collection from site visit, critical analysis reflecting on findings, concept generation, design developments and producing a design that meets the goals and scope of the project.  The result is an innovative green-blue schoolyard with good meeting and multi-functional activity zones, both for use during the day and in the evening that can serve the school and the different user groups in the broader community.
