This thesis deals with temporary site-specific works of art in the public space. The chosen place for this study is Ringve Botanical Garden and the thesis aims to investigate the place's ability to function as inspiration for artistic development work. The problem I have chosen is formulated to show that the survey has a practical, exploratory form with a focus on being out in the field, so it reads as follows: How can the interaction between place and place-specific art provide competence development for me as an art and craft teacher? The study will examine how the artist's practice of the chosen place has helped to make its mark on the work and its connection to its surroundings. The viewer role during this study has been central, and this is reflected in the site analysis of the selected site through selected criteria and categories. These have been taken from Erik Mørstad's visual analysis model and Alex Mørch's formal aesthetic tools and have resulted in a combination of both to develop a self-produced analysis model that is adapted to the work of this study. The theoretical platform consists of several art practices and theories. Relational aesthetics, site-specific art, temporary art and hermeneutic-phenomenological method. Finally, there are discussions about a place's potential to act as a source of inspiration in a tactile practical-aesthetic work and subject didactic potential. Keywords: site-specific art, temporary art, formal aesthetic means, hermeneutic-phenomenological method
