Et helhetlig perspektiv på sykepleie ved livets slutt

Abstract

Bakgrunn: kreft krever årlig mange menneskeliv og fører mennesker inn i en palliativ fase. Sykepleiere har en sentral rolle i kreftomsorgen og ved livets slutt, og en økning blant populasjon og alder vil føre til at sykepleiere trenger økt kunnskap i hvordan en kan sikre verdig død til dem som ikke overlever diagnosen.

Hensikt: oppgavens hensikt er å belyse sykepleiers rolle ved livets slutt samt øke kunnskap rundt hvordan et helhetlig perspektiv kan sikre dette.

Metode: et litteraturstudium gjennomført fra 11.april til 2.juni 2022 basert på syv artikler.

Resultat: sykepleiers rolle og funksjon ved livets slutt vises til å være viktig og svært relevant. Et helhetlig perspektiv, som ser hele mennesket, vil kunne ta til seg flere grunnleggende behov som en har ved livets slutt, og slik kunne medvirke til en verdig død.

Konklusjon: Det knyttes opp mot utfordringer til sykepleiers lindrende, forebyggende og behandlende funksjoner gjennom helhetlig sykepleie til palliative pasienter med kreft, på bakgrunn av manglende teoretisk og praktisk kunnskap innenfor temaet. Sykepleiers rolle ved livets slutt bør adresseres og et helhetlig perspektiv på sykepleie bør promoteres da komponenter innenfor et helhetlig perspektiv vises til å være svært viktige ved livets slutt.

Background: cancer annually requires many human lives and leads people into a palliative phase. Nurses play a central role in cancer care and at the end of life, and an increase in population and age will lead to nurses needing increased knowledge of how to ensure dignified death for those who do not survive the diagnosis.

Objective: the purpose of the thesis is to shed light on the role of nurses at the end of life, and to increase knowledge about how a holistic perspective can ensure this.

Method: a literature study was conducted from 11 April to 2 June 2022 based on seven articles.

Result: the role and function of the nurse at the end of life are shown to be important and very relevant. A holistic perspective, which sees the whole human being, will be able to address several basic needs that one has at the end of life, and thus could contribute to a dignified death.

Conclusion: It is linked to challenges to nurses' palliative care, preventive and treating functions through holistic nursing to palliative care patients with cancer, based on a lack of theoretical and practical knowledge within the topic. The role of nurses at the end-of-life, should be addressed and a holistic perspective on nursing should be promoted, as components within a holistic perspective are shown to be very important at the end of life.
