The topic for this bachelor thesis is structural change. The thesis is based on a qualitative case study on a unit in Sykehuset Innlandet HF, and we have used thematic analysis to evaluate the results. The purpose is to see if the motivation and willingness to change is affected by the structural transformation.
Previous research and relevant literature will be put into context. The theoretical chapter covers change and motivation, in addition to communication and work environment. These themes came up during the interviews and may also have an effect in motivation and willingness to change. In the results and analysis chapter, the themes will be presented separately with the leaders first and employees second. The chapter was concluded with a comparison summary, which formed the basis for the discussion.
In conclusion, although there were some minor differences in opinions, the most interesting finding of this thesis is arguably that the leaders and co-workers alike agreed on several of the themes presented. The main concern among the employees is how work environment will be affected by this new structure within the unit.
