En analyse av hvordan jordbruket fremstilles i lærebøker i samfunnsfag på mellomtrinnet.

Abstract

Dette er en masteroppgave som tar for seg hvordan jordbruket fremstilles på mellomtrinnet. Temaet for oppgaven er altså jordbruk og fremstillingen av jordbruket i skolen. For å finne svar på dette er det foretatt en analyse av fem lærebøker i samfunnsfag for 5. og 6. trinn. For å finne ut hvordan jordbruket fremstilles har teori om oppfatninger av dagens samfunn stått sentralt. Sammen med oppfatninger av hva en god lærebok er og sosial konstruksjon. Ved analyse av dataene fra lærebøkene kom det fort frem at det sto relativt lite om landbruk i dem. På tross av dette ble det gjort en rekke funn i datamaterialet. Det er tre funn som utmerker seg. Det første og kanskje største funnet er at det ligger en oppfatning om at jordbruket er noe vi hadde før. Dette gjennom at størsteparten av datamateriell fra lærebøker henviser til jordbruket i fortid og at det står nesten ingenting om hvordan vi produserer mat i dag. Det andre funnet er at jordbruket fremstilles som en klimaversting. Kyr på beite blir satt sammen med et fly og en oljeplattform. Produksjon av mat nevnes spesielt når det skrives om hva som slipper ut klimagasser. Det siste store funnet er fremstillingen av jordbruk som noe idyllisk. For eksempel gjennom en illustrasjon av en dame i stråhatt og overall som kjører en traktor som minner om tegneseriefiguren gråtass, eller det idylliske ved at de levde av maten de produserte selv før i tiden.

This is a master’s thesis that deals with how agriculture is portrayed for children in the last three years of primary school in Norway. The theme for the thesis is agriculture and the presentation of agriculture in schools. To find answers to this, an analysis has been made of five textbooks in social studies for 5th and 6th grade. To find out how agriculture is presented, the theory of perceptions of today's society has been central. Along with perceptions of what a good textbook is and social construction. When analysing the data from the textbooks, it quickly emerged that there was relatively little about agriculture in them. Despite this, several findings were made in the data material. There are three findings that stands out. The first and biggest finding is that there is a perception that agriculture is something we had before. This is because most of the material from textbooks refers to agriculture in the past and there is almost nothing about how we produce food today. The second observation is that agriculture is presented as a climate aggravation. Cows on pasture are put together with an aircraft and an oil platform, food production is mentioned especially when it is written about what emits greenhouse gases. The last great find is that agriculture is portrayed as something idyllic. For example, through an illustration of a lady in a straw hat and overalls driving a tractor reminiscent of the cartoon character “Gråtass”, or the idyllic in that they lived on the food they produced themselves in the past.
