Samfunnsarbeid- et hensiktsmessig comeback i sosialt arbeid?

Abstract

Fattigdom og utenforskap som skaper sosial splittelse og sosial ulikhet er utfordringer som vokser i befolkningen. Den norske velferdsstaten er i dag i en presset situasjon, og dermed er det uttrykt et ønske fra sentrale myndigheter om å tenke nytt i offentlig sektor på hvordan man kan møte samfunnsutfordringer på en bærekraftig måte. Denne oppgaven har tatt for seg debatten som har fulgt av de nye føringene, og sett på om hvorvidt samfunnsarbeid kan være hensiktsmessig å gjeninnføre som sosialfaglig metode, for å møte de nye føringene samt de økende samfunnsutfordringene. Med en sterk sosialfaglig forankring, reell brukermedvirkning og inkludering av klienter og bevissthet på hvordan maktforhold kan ha innvirkning på samarbeid, er det belegg for å anta at samfunnsarbeid kan være en strategi som kan svare til å møte utfordringene.

Poverty and exclusion that create social division and social inequality are challenges that are growing in the population. The Norwegian welfare state is currently in a pressured situation, and thus a desire has been expressed by central authorities to rethink the public sector on how to meet societal challenges in a sustainable way. This thesis has addressed the debate that has followed the new guidelines and has looked at whether community work may be appropriate to reintroduce as a social science method, to meet the new guidelines and the increasing societal challenges. With a strong social professional base, real user participation and inclusion of clients and awareness of how power relations can have an impact on collaboration, there is evidence to suggest that community work can work as a strategy that can meet the new challenges.
