Abstract This thesis is based on the car dealership Nardo Bil Jaguar Land Rover and the comprehensive organizational change they have been through over the last five years. Throughout the process the employees have played a significant role. The main objective of this Bachelor thesis is to answer the following question “How has the employees' motivation in Nardo Bil Jaguar Land Rover changed during the course of the change process and why?” The focus of this thesis will be discussed in the light of relevant theories and empirical evidence. The theoretical fundament builds on different theories of motivation and change presented by Lewin, McClelland, Deci and Ryan, and Hackman and Oldham. We have used a qualitative approach to analyze the objective. This is because we wish to achieve a holistic and deeper understanding of the organization Nardo Bil Jaguar Land Rover. We have conducted the research through open individual interviews with the employees. To answer this objective in a simpler way, we have derived two research questions; 1) How have the employees perceived the change process and why has it affected their motivation? 2) What factors are contributing to the motivation during the change process and why is this influencing motivation? The results of the research done show that motivation was high prior, varying throughout the change process and changed to the better after. This notion is supported by the leaders who say an increase in motivation has been a direct result of the process. During the work with establishing a new branch the employees have gained an increased feeling of ownership and unity which in its turn contributes to higher motivation. This is due to several factors such as social affiliation, autonomy, and personal growth as alle these have contributed to why the motivation has changed. Extrinsic motivation has to a varying degree also contributed to the change seen in motivation in the employees.
