Armbrøstbolter i utmark

Abstract

Sammendrag Formålet med oppgaven er å analyse funn av armbrøstbolter i utmark utenom snøfonner i Midt-Norge. Jeg skal se på hva som er hovedkomponenter i armbrøstteknologien som ble brukt i forhistorisk og historisk tid, og hvordan armbrøsten og armbrøstbolten fungerte sammen? Jeg skal også se på hvor mange armbrøstbolter det finnes fra utmarksområdene utenom snøfonner i Midt-Norge. Min teori-hypotese er: Menneske vil alltid bruke den mest effektive og praktiske teknologien for å nå sine mål. Mennesker har i all sin tid jaktet. Det å lykkes med jakt var viktig for å overleve. Kunnskapen om jakt har gått videre fra generasjon til generasjon og utviklet seg. Det samme har utviklingen av våpen som ble brukt. En kan da forvente å se en teknologisk utvikling til mer avanserte og mer spesialiserte våpen, både selve buen, men også selve pilen. Basert på denne antakelsen, vil trolig et mønster i funn vise en gradvis overgang fra tradisjonell pil og bue til armbrøst, og en variasjon i utformingen av pilspissene.

Abstract The purpose of this thesis is to analyse the discovery of crossbow bolts in outlying areas outside snow-patches in central Norway. I will look at what are the main components of the crossbow technology used in prehistoric and historical times, and how the crossbow and crossbow bolt worked together? I will also look at how many crossbow bolts there are from the outlying areas except for snow-patches in central Norway. My theory hypothesis is: Humans will always use the most effective and practical technology to achieve their goals. Humans have hunted for all their time. Success in hunting was important for survival. The knowledge of hunting has moved on from generation to generation and evolved. So has the development of weapons used. One can then expect to see a technological development to more advanced and more specialized weapons, both the arch itself, but also the arrow itself. Based on this assumption, a pattern in findings is likely to show a gradual transition from traditional bow and arrow to crossbow, and a variation in the design of the arrowhead.
