This thesis focuses on how literature may serve as a tool for the diagnosis and treatment of dissociative disorders. The main characters in the two french books Les mots pour le dire (Marie Cardinal, 1975) and Hiroshima mon amour (Marguerite Duras, 1960) serve as case studies in this medical-literary analysis, which explores the way in which the fragmented self can be healed throughout the process of literary creation.
