For many years young minor refugees have arrived together with their families, but since 2005 the number of unaccompanied refugees arriving in the EU has increased. Unaccompanied refugee minors are a heterogenous group, but despite the differences they have qualities making them a connected group. These youths leave their countries for many reasons, related to violence, governmental issues and desire for better future, health, and education. The health of asylum seekers is influenced by many happenings and experiences, both past and the present, from multiple loss, discrimination, and loss of identity. Many asylum seekers originate from countries where the healthcare structure varies highly from industrialized countries. The aim of the study was to provide an overview of research on young unaccompanied refugees idea of health, experiences of healthcare services, and experienced health threats and how to deal with these threats. This is a scope-review based on peer-reviewed literature identified in 14 electronical databases. Key terms such as unaccompanied refugee, health, health care and experiences. Data search took place in February-March 2021. Nine studies were systematically analyzed. Health was understood through sense of belonging and companionship and is the absence of sickness and capability to function in day-today life, health service providers were often experienced as dismissive, unfriendly and the youth felt stigmatized. Threats for health mentioned were: lacking social and emotional contacts, perceived discrimination, and inability to speak the host country’s language. These threats were delt with focusing on positives elements, helping each other, and sharing experiences, and engaging in meaningful activities. The youth took care of their health by setting goals and trying to adapt into the new society and culture, whilst trying to gain understanding of their new surroundings, and actively seeking help and support, and letting go of painful feelings and thoughts. Health is a dynamic constantly changing state of being, which is affected by physical and social environment, including illnesses Health is a part of human rights and should be accessible to all regardless of our nationality, ethnicity, and socio-economic status. Culture and cultural differences between refugees and healthcare professionals, and lack of ‘cultural sensitivity’ among healthcare professionals are commonly emphasized barriers to effective, quality care for refugees. Healthcare services are often designed around the idea that patients have certain skills and knowledge about health, and there is a specific definition for good health. This may differ from the refugees idea of health and receiving appropriate care might be difficult. There is room for more research in the future of the experiences with healthcare services and the utilization of services in this group of young people. Keywords: unaccompanied, refugee, minor, health, experience
