Denne avhandling tar for seg implementasjonen av BFSK-algoritmen presentert i “On the Low Complexity Implementation of the DFT-Based BFSK Demodulator for Ultra-Narrowband Communications”.
A problem in wireless communication is the frequency-offset which comes from deviations between transmitter and receiver oscillator frequency. This can be resolved by using Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT) based Binary Frequency Shift Keying (BFSK) demodulators as they are frequency-offset tolerant. This thesis focuses on the implementation of the BFSK demodulator algorithm proposed in “On the Low Complexity Implementation of the DFT-Based BFSK Demodulator for Ultra-Narrowband Communications”. It is implemented in SystemVerilog and verified using a software model in MATLAB, simulated in QuestaSim, and synthesized using DesignCompiler. The verification is achieved by finding the Bit Error Rate (BER) for combinations of Eb/N0 and fixed-point representation. The implementation is customizable through parametrization of the interpolation factor, symbol length, twiddle factors, ratio factor, and fixed-point representation. The simulation results show that it has the same performance as a software floating-point model when a fixed-point representation of Q6.6 is used, and has a power consumption similar to other state-of-the-art DFT-based BFSK demodulators.
