| dc.description.abstract | The thesis is based on the interviews of eight Norwegian youth, whereof six of them had a Muslim background. The interviews took place at two different high schools in Norway, and the overall subject is Human Rights. The interviews where then transcribed and that formed the material of the analysis. The theoretical framework for the analysis is based on The Practice of Everyday Life by the French scholar Michel de Certeau and on the thoughts by the American Sociologist Meredith McGuire presented in Lived Religion. The overall research question in the thesis is: To what extent does the Norwegian school influence Muslim youth on their attitudes toward human rights. On the basis of the theoretical framework the Norwegian school system is seen as one of possibly multiple producers of attitudes towards human rights. To compare the informants’ views with the Norwegian school system I look for similarities between their textbooks, the official teaching plans and to some extent what their teachers have told me about their teaching. In the thesis I also have some focus on what my informants think about how their schools facilitate for the practice of their religion. | nb_NO |
