Men ogs˚a metodologiens manglende evne til ˚a modellere komponenter medikke-binær evne til ˚a utføre komponentens funksjon, og usikkerheter. Sist presenteres videre arbeid for ˚a korrigere disse begrensningene, men samtidig beholde metodologiens intensjon. This thesis original intention was to present a methodology both simple and applicable for theimplementation of machine learning techniques for predictive maintenance, with emphasis on supervised learning algorithms. It briefly introduces the motivation and history for advances in thefield of maintenance before it presents the necessary theoretical background required to follow thepurposed methodology. It discusses the identified shortcomings of the current methodology, such asthe inability to adequately consider component dependability and common cause failures, multiplefunctional states, and uncertainties. But most importantly the inadequacies of choosing reliabilityblock diagram as the system tier model, a choice motivated by the naive intention. But A choicethat severely constrains the potential and applicability of the presented methodology. Lastly further work to correct the discussed shortcomings of the methodology yet retain the intention ispresented.
