Sammendrag

Tittel: Nettverksutfordringer hos barn og unge med høytfungerende autisme.

Introduksjon/bakgrunn: Med årene har det blitt satt mer søkelys på å skape et mangfoldig samfunn der alle skal inkluderes uavhengig av utfordringer og annerledeshet. Likevel opplever barn og unge med høytfungerende autisme at de kommer til kort i vennskapsetablering og faller utenfor hos sine jevnaldrende.

Hensikt: Hensikten med studien er å sikre at nettverksutfordringene til barn og unge med høytfungerende autisme imøtekommes på best mulig måte ved å sette søkelys på disse utfordringene.

Metode: Metoden som benyttes er litteraturstudie. Oppgavens problemstilling besvares ved hjelp av fem vitenskapelige artikler og relevant litteratur.

Resultat: De fem vitenskapelige artiklene tar for seg temaene: forståelse og praktisering av sosiale normer og regler, betydningen av forskjellige vennskapsperspektiver og deltagelse, samt tjenestenes påvirkning.

Konklusjon: Barn og unge med høytfungerende autisme har utfordringer i etablering og opprettholdelse av sosiale nettverk på bakgrunn av deres sosiale mangler. Manglende forståelse og praktisering etter sosiale normer og regler, samt forståelse av egne og andres følelser og vennskapsperspektiver, utgjør hovedårsakene til utfordringene. Disse faktorene medfører at de kommer til kort hos deres typisk utviklede jevnaldrende, og dermed sliter med å bli aksepter og inkludert. Tjenestene skaper utfordringer i form av å prioritere læring og trening på andre områder enn det sosiale feltet. Samtidig er det lite tilrettelagte tiltak for å imøtekomme individuelle behov tilknyttet sosiale utfordringer.

Abstract

Title: Network challenges in children and adolescents with autism.

Introduction/background: Through the years it’s been more focus on a diverse society, where everyone is included regardless of challenges they may have. Although children and adolescents with autism are experiencing to not be sufficient to their peers because of their different friendship perspectives.

Purpose: The purpose is to look at the challenges children and youth with autism are having in establishment and maintenance in their social network, so that the services can meet these challenges the best possible way.

Method: The method in this assignment is literature studies. Five scientific articles and relevant theory are the foundation to answer the thesis statement.

Result: Based on relevant theory and five scientific articles these following themes were discussed: understanding and practice according to social norms and rules, the meaning of different friendship perspectives and participation, and the services influence.

Conclusion: Children and adolescents with high functioning autism has challenges in establishment and maintenance of their social networks because of their social deficiencies. The main reasons to their social deficiencies are lack of understanding and practice according to social norms and rules, as well as understanding their own and other people’s feelings and friendship perspectives. This entails that interaction with their peers fails, which makes them struggle with acceptance and inclusion. The services also create challenges because they prioritize skill training on other areas rather than social competence. In addition, measures are not adapted to meet individual needs associated to their social challenges.
