Abstract

Sammendrag¨

Innledning: I denne oppgaven er temaet velferdsteknologi i to kommuner i Nord-Gudbrandsdal regionen. Oppgaven har bakgrunn fra et større prosjekt som er forankret i et samarbeid mellom NTNU og de aktuelle kommunene. Målet med oppgaven er å bidra til at de aktuelle kommunene kan imøtekomme den aldrende befolkningen ved hjelp av velferdsteknologi.

Hensikt: Oppgavens hensikt er å undersøke hva slags holdninger og kunnskaper det er på det aktuelle temaet blant innbyggerne i kommunene.

Forskningsspørsmål: Hva slags holdninger og kunnskap finnes det blant innbyggerne i alderen 55 + i de to utvalgte kommunene om bruk av velferdsteknologi for å oppnå en god helse i en fremtidig alderdom?

Metode: Det ble gjennomført fem individuelle kvalitative intervjuer fra to kommuner i regionen. Informantene ble utvalgt fra prosjektteamet og var basert på alder 55+, ulikt kjønn ulik utdanning, ulike geografiske tilknytning (sentralt / ikke sentralt), mottar ingen tjenester fra kommunen og har ingen funksjonsnedsettelser. Datanalysen som er benyttet i metoden er basert med fokus på mening.

Resultat: Resultatet fra intervjuene viser hva slags forståelse de har velferdsteknologi og hvordan teknologien kan bidra med tanke på deres ønsker i fremtiden.

Konklusjon: Funnene i denne oppgaven viser at det er lite kunnskap blant befolkningen når det kommer til velferdsteknologi. Velferdsteknologi kan være et viktig tilskudd i alderdommen for den kommende aldrende befolkningen. Teknologien kan bidra til selvstendighet, øke muligheten for å kunne bo lenger hjemme og opprettholde sosial kontakt. Tidligere forskning viser at kommunene vil være et viktig element for at velferdsteknologi skal kunne implementeres.

Abstract

Background: The theme of this thesis is welfare technology in two municipalities in the region of Nord-Gudbrandsdal in Norway. This dissertation has background from a project that is collaborating with NTNU and the municipalities. The aim of this thesis is to help the relevant municipalities to meet the aging population with use of welfare technology.

Purpose: The purpose of this thesis is to investigate what kind of attitudes and knowledge there is on the current topic among the inhabitants of the municipalities.

Research question: What kind of attitudes and knowledge are there among the inhabitants aged 55+ in the two selected municipalities when it comes to the use of welfare technology to achieve good health in the future old age?

Method: Five individual qualitative interviews were conducted from two municipalities in the region. The informants were selected from the project team and were 55 years old or older, had different gender, level of education, geographical connections (central/non-central), received no services from the municipality and had no disabilities. The data analysis used in the method is based on a focus of meaning.

Results: The results from the interviews show what kind of understanding they have of welfare technology and how the technology can contribute with a view to their wishes in the future.

Conclusion: The findings in this thesis show that there is little knowledge among the population when it comes to welfare technology. Welfare technology can be an important contribution in old age for the coming aging population. The technology can contribute to independence, increase the possibility of being able to live longer at home and maintain social contact. Previous research show that the municipalities will be an important element for welfare technology to be implemented.
