Keywords: Social affiliation, cerebral palsy, children, healthcare professionals Background: Cerebral Palsy (CP) is the most common cause of motor disability in Norway. During practice in the special health service, the student group experienced a focus on increased activity level and involvement in children with CP from start to finish. But what is changing, and why? Few studies show the child's and health professionals' personal experiences of social belonging in activity. The project creates an understanding of why early implementation of measures is appropriate. Purpose: The purpose with this study is to see health professionals' perspectives on social affiliation. The issue being investigated is "What do health professionals think about the importance of social affiliation in meaningful activities for children with cerebral palsy?" Method: Qualitative research design was used by semi-structured focus group interviews. Seven informants from the municipal and special health services participated in the project, which was transcribed and processed. Results: Children with CP and parents have a challenge accepting the diagnosis. There is a need for better interdisciplinary collaboration between professional groups that work purposefully, and can coordinate the measures for the child. This can contribute to less intrusive measures, as well as the opportunity to be socially involved with children of the same age. Facilitation in the various arenas of everyday life is necessary for the child's opportunity to participate in activities with friends. Occupational therapists point out that they lack resources for work in leisure arenas. Conclusion: There is a need for more research on preventive and health-promoting measures in children in Norwegian conditions. This presupposes good interdisciplinary collaboration with mapping and measures, the ability to see the child's needs and attitudes in the environment. Social affiliation creates relationships and is considered an important resource. When the population and society's needs are met, development is strengthened through activity.
