Synet på morsmålsundervisning: Utviklingen fra 1960 til i dag

Abstract

Denne oppgaven tar for seg utviklingen av synet på morsmålsundervisning fra 1960 til i dag. Dette blir gjort med utgangspunkt i læreplanene som omhandler morsmål og minoritetsspråklige fra den gitte perioden. Diskusjonen i oppgaven viser at det har skjedd en markant utvikling av morsmålsundervisning de siste 60 årene, og at morsmålsundervisning har gått fra å være et middel for å bli bedre i norsk, til å bli ansett som en ressurs i den nyeste læreplanen. Selv om morsmålsundervisning kan lette innlæringen av norsk, er det ikke nødvendigvis den enkelte elevens behov som avgjør om vedkommende får morsmålsundervisning eller ikke - Det er som oftest et spørsmål om ressurser.

In this assignment I discuss the development and perception of mother tounge education from the 1960s until today. As my main source of empirical data I use national curriculum that embody both mother tounge education, as well as non-native speakers from the same periode. Through the discussion section we discover that there has been a substantial development of mother tounge education in the last 60 years, and that mother tounge education has gone from simply being recognized as a tool for improving Norwegian language skills, to being mentioned as a valuable resource in the newest national curriculum. And though mother tounge education can aid in the process of learning Norwegian, it is not necessarily the students actual needs that dictate whether or not mother tounge education is provided - It is rather a question of resources.
