Disse to stålplatenehektes på hverandre og danner en felles forbindelse.ii Norway is a country with long traditions with timber as a construction material. There isa greater focus on the environment and sustainability in the construction industry andbetter utilization of the materials. This leads to several materials are used together toutilize their properties in a good way. This thesis deals with design and dimensioning ofa residential building in cross laminated timber (CLT). Initially, the structure’s supportsystem was divided into two separate support systems, a primary support system consistingof two concrete walls and a secondary support system consisting of a shell in in CLT. Thesecondary support system is held together by the primary support system. The secondarysupport system has a cantilever length of 9.5m.
The structure have been modeled in Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis with basic datataken from Eurocode. It has been chosen to disregard the design of nodes and attachmentsoutside the most congested node as it becomes the most critical point in the construction. The results from Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis have been used further as basicdata for the connections and controls in the limit states. The check of the connection andthe limit states have been performed by hand calculations. The hand calculations areperformed in the calculation program MathCad Prime.
Different means of connection were considered for connecting the two support systems. Theconnection that was considered the best solution is inspired by the company Rothoblaas. Two steel plates are used, one steel plate on the concrete wall and another on the CLT.The steel plate is attached to the concrete wall by using threaded rods which are anchoredin the concrete wall by chemical anchor fasteners. The steel plate on the CLT is fastenedby using screws that form an 45 degree angle with the grain direction. This is to increase the capacityof the screws. These two steels plates are hooked to each other and form a commonconnection.
