Abstract
In this master thesis we are interested in the compressible Euler equations. For gas simulations in pipelines, a common model is the isothermal Euler equations. We will consider a model, the kink-model, which describes the flow in a pipeline with one or more kinks. We consider two scenarios:
In the first scenario we look at the contribution from the kinks and gravity. We discover that they are both important and should not be neglected.
In the second scenario we compare the kink-model to a smooth (semi-circular) pipe, where we will see how many kinks are necessary to get a good approximation of the smooth pipe. We will use different initial conditions and boundary conditions. We discover that the result will dependent on the type of boundary conditions that are used.
