Since the advent of the women equality rights movement in the early 1900s, A lot of milestones have been achieved by women in different fields of profession. It wouldn't be far fetched to assume that by now women are men are equally represented in all fields and walk of life, but that would be furthest from the truth. This spells more trouble for women in developing countries where little advancement in civil rights and gender equality take years to be achieved. STEM has seen increased in its women population compare to a few decades ago, but it is nearly not enough. Since women on average graduate and attend university more than men, that would mean they rather study in other fields than STEM. Accounting, Law and many other fields have seen a tremendous increase in women compare to STEM. A lot of measures have been taken to mitigate this issue, action taken include scholarships to female students and many other funding programs, but to no avail. To mitigate this issue I tried using e-mentoring taking advantage of the infrastructure already made available by social networks coupled with a learning Management system as a medium of instruction.
