This bachelor thesis has been written with the purpose of examining the use of colour during medieval times in polychrome wooden sculpture in Norway, with a crucifix from Grong dated at c.1250 as a starting point. This text seeks to present the chosen medieval crucifix in detail, both by what techniques it has been constructed with and present the colours which have been used to paint the object. From this description of the colours the text will then try to address the issue of how this choice of paint colour have affected the reception in posterity.
