dc.description.abstract | Bakgrunn
dc.description.abstract | Background
So far there are few articles expressing how educational and clinical supervision effect the doctors in training in terms of well-being and professional development. This article is one of the first to survey the topic.
Material and method
Information is gathered from a questionnaire distributed to doctors in Helse Midt who finished their hospital year in the period from spring 2019 to autumn 2020.
Results
In total 112 doctors replied. There was a significant association between having attended group supervision and how well the doctor felt during his/her practice (P=0,05). There was also a significant association between the quantity and frequency of supervision and well-being (P<0,001). The study also concludes that supervision improves the doctors clinical and communicational skills (P<0,05)
Interpretation
Both well-being and skills training as a doctor in specialization is closely associated with the quantity and frequency of supervision.
