Abstract

Denne bacheloroppgaven tar utgangspunkt i problematikk knyttet til store industriminner og nettsiden industriminne.no. industriminne.no er Norsk Oljemuseums dokumenterings- og forskningsprosjekt for noen av de viktigste oljefeltene på norsk sokkel. Formålet med denne oppgaven er tredelt: (1) å undersøke hvilke strategier man kan bruke for å forvalte store tekniske industriminner, (2) å se hva som skjer når et kulturminne går fra å være fysisk til å være digitalt og muligheter og utfordringer knyttet til denne prosessen, og (3) hvordan dokumentasjonen av industriminner på industriminne.no er påvirket av dette. Disse spørsmålene vil bli drøftet gjennom en kombinasjon av teori og dokumentanalyse. Bacheloroppgaven er delt inn i fem hovedkapitler: innledning, bakgrunn, diskusjon, konklusjon og bibliografi. I resultatet av drøftingen kommer det frem at det fins ulike strategier for forvaltningen av store industriminner, og at digitalisering kan anses som den beste. Digitalisering kan gi en større grad av tilgjengelighet, men kan samtidig være problematisk med tanke på autentisitet og objektivitet. Det konkluderes med at dokumenteringen på industriminne.no er bra, men at den har potensiale for forbedring.

This bachelor thesis is based on problems related to the size of industrial heritage and the website industriminne.no. industriminne.no is the site for the Norwegian Petroleum Museum’s documentation and research project for a selection of the most important oil fields on the Norwegian shelf. The purpose of this thesis is threefold: (1) to investigate possible strategies for the conservation of industrial heritage of a certain size, (2) to see what happens when cultural heritage goes from being physical to being digital, and the opportunities and challenges associated with this process, and (3) how the documentation of industrial heritage on industriminne.no is affected by this. These questions will be discussed using a combination of theory and document analysis. The bachelor thesis is divided into five main chapters: introduction, background, discussion, conclusion, and bibliography. The results of the discussion show that there are several different strategies for the management of sizeable cultural heritage, and that digitization can be considered the best. Digitization can provide greater accessibility but can also be problematic in terms of authenticity and objectivity. It is concluded that the documentation on industriminne.no is good, but that it has potential for improvement.
