Employee-driven innovation as an innovation concept has existed under denominations like intrapreneurship, internal corporate venturing or corporate entrepreneurship. In all these approaches the focus has been on exploiting the innovation potential of the ordinary employees. As the digital shift influences all parts of private and public, digital innovation has attracted increased attention in recent years. Researchers are trying to establish models that can explain how digital innovation affects organizations and societies, both in terms of processes and outcomes. In this paper we perform a systematic literature review to establish the state-of-the-art linking employee-driven innovation and digital innovation as a coalescent approach to innovation. The search in electronic databases has been limited to primary studies from the period between January 2015 and April 2019. We have identified 13 primary studies that has been included in this review. Based on these primary studies we elaborate existing research streams within this research area, identify knowledge gaps, and pose new research questions that can lead to further research related to the concept of employee-driven digital innovation.en_US
