This thesis investigates the Norwegian culture brought to New York by immigrants, and which elements of the culture the descendants of the immigrants still hold on to. This has been done by researching the settlement of Bay Ridge, New York in two different time periods and looking at what has stayed the same and what has changed in relation to culture. The investigation showed that the most important cultural elements seem to be the 17th of May celebration and the norse culture of the Vikings. However, the Norwegian culture has been integrated into the American culture, which has resulted in an alteration of the Norwegian culture.en
