Fidelity is the most common discussion topic in studies about film adaptations. In more recent studies fidelity has been deemed an unhelpful tool in analysing the relationship between a novel and its film adaptation. However, this bachelor thesis will be focusing on finding and analysing fidelity between John Steinbeck´s Of Mice and Men and two film adaptations of the novel; The 1939 film adaptation directed by Lewis Milestone and the 1992 film adaptation directed by Gary Sinise. A certain sense of fidelity could be important to understand the novel´s plot and characters. The focus of this thesis will be on how the chosen film adaptations achieve fidelity with the ending of Steinbeck´s novel and how they stay true to the characters of the story.en
