This bachelor thesis is about AMV FL-70 Hybrid, a new loading machine meant for tunnelling profiles that are T8,5 and bigger. The machine is developed through cooperation between AMV AS and Skanska Norway. The front-loading machine is a belt-driven excavator. It is intended to operate in the same lines of work as wheel loaders and scaling machines do today in conventional tunnelling. To move through the tunnel, the machine uses its diesel engine and belts. When the machine is loading and scaling however, it applies the electricity from the power line in the tunnel. This thesis examines the competitiveness of FL-70 Hybrid. The intent is to see if it satisfies the demands in the construction business in terms of profitability, sustainability and HSE. Through field studies the group got the opportunity to perceive the machine up-close, and meanwhile establish a connection to important contributors in the development of the machine. The network established here has since been used to get hold of relevant and necessary information. This includes both AMV FL-70 Hybrid itself and the fields of studies explored through this thesis. To examine the efficiency of the machine, the group has conducted an analysis of the machine’s time spending. The analysis is done for the parts of a tunnel cycle of which FL-70 Hybrid is mean to operate. To do this, production data from Skanska has been used for results and discussion. An analysis of the greenhouse gas emissions from AMV FL-70 Hybrid has also been conducted. For comparison, an analysis has also been done for a traditional wheel loader, a Cat 988K. This comparison is done to highlight the differences in emissions between the hybrid loader and comparable wheel loaders. These differences are since linked to the process of calling for tenders. This is done to shed light upon which competitive advantages FL-70 Hybrid may get because of its hybrid fuel system. Ultimately, aspects within health, safety and environment has been explored. This includes calculations, examinations and reviews of hazardous exhaust, ergonomic solutions and levels of noise.en
