Aspekter av autentisitet som begrunnelse for restaureringer på Haltdalen stavkirke under Riksantikvarens Stavkirkeprogram

Abstract

Denne bacheloroppgaven undersøker hvilke hensyn til Haltdalen stavkirkes autentisitet som ble tatt under utbedringsarbeidet den undergikk som en del av Riksantikvarens Stavkirkeprosjekt. Den tar utgangspunkt i fire former for autentisitet som er iboende i bygninger: materiell autentisitet og autentisitet i setting, utførelse og design, som definert av UNESCO. Den tar også utgangspunkt i visuell autentisitet, som handler om hvordan publikum opplever museumsbygningen. Haldalen stavkirke var den eneste av alle Norges stavkirker som tok del i Riksantikvarens stavkirkeprosjekt som det ble utført en stilistisk tilbakeføring på. Avslutningsvis diskuteres denne beslutningen i forhold til de forskjellige formene for autentisitet.

This Bachelor’s Thesis examines what consideration to Haldalen Stave Church’s authenticity was taken during the restoration work it underwent during Riksantikvarens Stavkirkeprogram, during which all of Norway’s Stave Churches underwent some such work. It bases this examination on four aspects of authenticity as defined by UNESCO: Authenticity of Design, Authenticity of Material, Authenticity of Setting and Authenticity of Workmanship. In addition to these, which are aspects of authenticity inherent to the building, I include visual/educational authenticity, which is related to how the building is perceived by an audience. Haltdalen Stave Church was the only one to undergo a stylistic restoration, and in conclusion this decision is discussed in relation to the aspects of authenticity.
