Abstract Background: Alcohol during pregnancy can have sever consequences for the fetus. A lot of the symptoms and challenges caused by prenatal alcohol exposure, can go undetected as a result of lack of knowledge about the different diagnosis. This can lead to a lack of facilitation and decrease developement with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder-diagnosed children. Purpose: The purpose of this study is to illuminate the problem around lack of knowledge about Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) in primary school and the need of facilitation. Method: The method used is literature study. The discussion is based on five peer-reviewed articles that focus on FASD in school. Results: The results from the five peer-reviewed articles are presented in three themes: early diagnostic, need of facilitation, lack of knowledge and competence about FASD. All important factors that can impact childrens developement in school. Conclusion: This study concludes with the need for increased knowledge. By increasing knowledge about FASD, diagnosis can be found earlier and the facilitation can begin at an early age. These three factors will have a great impact and ability to promote childrens developement and the parents will get the support they need and the feeling of being understood.
