Sammendrag
In this master thesis, a case study regarding the collaborative robot Sawyer, and how to implementit in a production line has been conducted. The process is following the approaches of TrollLABS, aresearch and prototyping laboratory located at NTNU in Trondheim. It will focus on how to produceheaters for the Integrated Flow Chamber System for Live Cell Microscopy developed by Vitroscope. The goal is to automate repetitive tasks that takes too much time to perform by hand. There hasbeen conducted different tests, in order to iterate to a final solution. The main aspects for theautomation is how to create vacuum with Sawyer, how to align the parts for production and how tointeract with the laser cutter. In the end everything is integrated into a final set-up rig. In order tocontrol the collaborative robot Sawyer for this task the program Intera 5.3 was used.
In addition to highlighting key-insights from the tests to emphasize the importance of each stageof the product development process, the thesis presents the final product and results. The conclusionof the thesis is an evaluation of the results from the final test and address if the assembled heaters aresuccessfully made. What remains to be done is to conduct more tests, both with one and multipleheaters. The set-up could be engineered better, and in order to run more tests without interruptions, the collaborative robot Sawyer and the laser cutter should have its own space.
