Hvilke faktorer påvirker livskvalitet og mestring hos pasienter med schizofren diagnose?

Abstract

Bakgrunn: En pasient med schizofren diagnose er preget av både psykiske og sosiale forhold som påvirker livskvaliteten hver dag. Dette er noe som er viktig å skape mer fokus rundt, slik at sykepleiere har kunnskap nok til å hjelpe pasientene til å mestre dagligdagse utfordringer. Hensikt: Hensikten med denne oppgaven er å belyse faktorer som påvirker livskvaliteten og mestring hos pasienter med schizofren diagnose. Metode: En systematisk litteraturstudie basert på åtte fagfellevurderte forskningsartikler og annen relevant faglitteratur. Evans (2012) modell for systematisk litteraturstudie ble benyttet i analysen av artiklene. Nøkkelfunnene fra artiklene ble kategorisert inn i fire hovedtema. Resultat: Pasienter med schizofreni opplever redusert livskvalitet og mestring av hverdagslige problemer på grunn av stigmatisering, lite sosial støtte, og sykdommens symptomer. Konklusjon: Sykepleier må forsøke å skape en god relasjon til pasienten, og kartlegge nødvendige behov for å videre kunne mestre utfordringer i hverdagen og å oppnå tilfredsstillende livskvalitet.

Background: Patients diagnosed with schizophrenia are having challenges mentally and socially in the daily life that affects their quality of life. This is something that needs more focus so that nurses has the needed knowledge to help the patients cope with these challenges. Aim: The aim of the study is to elucidate factors that affects quality of life and coping of life in general, in schizophrenic patients. Method: A systematic literature study based on eight peer reviewed articles and other relevant literature. Result: Patients living with schizophrenia experiences reduced quality of life and are coping with daily hassles because of stigma, lack of social support and the symptoms of the illness. Conclusion: Nurses must try to establish a good relationship to the patient, and identify each patients needs to be able to cope with the challenges in the daily life and to achieve good quality of life.
