The purpose of this thesis is to highlight some of the consequences of property taxations. The thesis seeks to address the impact of property tax on inter-municipal migration. In order to address the impact, 272 Norwegian municipalities have been analyzed in the period 2007-2015. Tiebout (1956) is used to study the theory of why property taxation can lead to inter-municipal migration. Later it will be discussed whether the theory matches the findings of the analysis. The findings suggest that property taxes have a negative impact on net migration in the municipalities, but how strong this effect is can be debated. In addition, five other factors that can influence inter-municipal migration are analyzed and discussed in the thesis.
