dc.description.abstractThe effect of basicity of two different basic charges for reduction of MnO by solid carbon during smelting ferromanganese is considered. The effect of different charge compositions on MnO reduction in the temperature range 1400–1500°C is considered. Experiments are performed in a thermogravimetric furnace in the presence of CO at atmospheric pressure. X-ray spectral fluorescence analysis (XRF) of final slags is conducted with the aim of determining the degree of MnO reduction in relation to charge composition and temperature. It is established that MnO reduction depends strongly on temperature, and charge properties apparently affect reduction insignificantly.nb_NO
