dc.description.abstract3D seismic data (1038,38 km2) and three 2D seismic lines are studied in this thesis to investigate four Lower Cretaceous canyons on the SE flank of the Loppa High in the SW Barents Sea, and to construct the late Triassic to present geological evolution of this area. The timing of the canyon erosion is connected to the Late Jurassic Early Cretaceous extension episode in the NE Atlantic-Artic. Triassic channels are also found in the study area, and are investigated and briefly compared to the Lower Cretaceous canyons.en
