In this task, we have addressed the issues that an aquaculture installation encounters by being moved from the fjords and out to the more exposed sea areas. This has meant that the operating model used for the conventional fish farms has had to be adapted to a new type of installation. We have investigated procedures and staffing of the aquaculture installations, as well as the competence of the personnel and vessel operations. Two qualitative interviews have been carried out by representatives from SalMar and Nordlaks. These interviews have been tabulated. We also carried out an observation of NTNU's course program, which was conducted at OSC at NMK in Ålesund. We have had various discussions regarding competence needs and staffing at the aquaculture installations as well as discussion of vessel operations. What we have found in this task is that there is a need for procedures, knowledge and knowledge of operations aimed at an aquaculture installation. We also see that the NYTEK regulations and the Directorate of Fisheries regulations are not adapted to such a type of installation.
