«Circle of Life» - En sammenligning av film og scenemusikal

Abstract

Disney-filmen The Lion King ble utgitt i 1994 og er den 32. i rekken av Disney helaftenfilmer. Den oppnådde straks stor suksess og ble senere adaptert til scenemusikal. Ettersom film og scenemusikal er to helt forskjellige medier, måtte det gjøres noen valg under adaptasjonen. Musikalen har senere blitt kjent for sin særegne stil med tanke på kostymer og scenografi, noe som er tydelig allerede i åpningssangen «Circle of Life». I denne bacheloroppgaven gjør jeg rede for ulike forskjeller og likheter mellom The Lion King som film og scenemusikal, med fokus på «Circle of Life».

In 1994 Disney released it's 32nd feature film The Lion king. It was an immidiate succes and was later adapted to the stage as a musical. As movies and stage musicals are different types of medias, choises had to be made during the adaption to make it fit the stage. The musical has become especially known for its distinctive style when it comes to costumes and scenografy, which is clear from the very beginning with "Circle of Life" as the opening song. In my bachelors thesis, I study the differences and similarities between the movie and scene adaption of the musical The Lion King, focusing on "Circle of Life"
