A composite is a material that consists of two or more different materials. Fiberglass is a composite where fibers of glass are covered by a plastic material. Stress are transferred from the plastic material to the fibers, and so this material can withstand more stress than the plastic alone while it is more elastic than the glass alone. This thesis deal with 3 different plates of fiberglass. The difference between them are fiber-orientation, -amount and -length. These are important factors what tensile strength concerns. The purpose of this thesis is to contribute to development of fiber-armed composites so that it can be used as a building material. The plates of fiberglass was made in advance and were cut to strain samples following a standard. They were tested to understand the tensile strength of the different plates. Through testing it was experienced that larger cross section was needed for the fibers to reach its potential. Results from testing indicated that higher percentage of fiber meant higher tensile strength. It was also learned that the plate with continuous fibres with 45/45 orientation were stronger than the other two with less continuous fibres. Even tough a plate had 10 percentage points more than the plate with continuous fibres, there was a difference in tensile strength: Higher amount of continuous fibres oriented 45/45 results in higher tensile strength than the plate(s) with shorter, discontinuous fibres.
